A high pressing and vertical style of play defines the AVS lineup in their 5-2-3 formation. This system aims to win the ball back quickly in the opponent half and strike fast through the forward line. By utilizing a heavy presence in the final third, AVS looks to overwhelm the opposition through direct runs and rapid transitions.

Protecting the goal is SIMÃO, who acts as the last line of defense. The defensive unit rests on a back three consisting of CARLOS, PAULO, and ADERLLAN. CARLOS acts as the central anchor while PAULO and ADERLLAN cover the left and right channels of the central area. To provide width, KIKI and GUILLEM operate as wing backs, pushing high to support the attack while they track back to form a five man wall when the team sits deep.

The midfield relies on a double pivot to control the central zone. GUSTAVO and THIAGO must work closely to shield the back three and intercept passes before they reach the attacking third. GUSTAVO provides stability in front of the defense, allowing THIAGO to drive forward and connect the defensive unit with the front line. This pair is responsible for winning second balls and recycling possession to the wide players.

In the attacking third, the team employs three dedicated forwards. ANTOINE leads the line as the lone striker, tasked with holding up the ball and making runs into the channels. On the flanks, ANDRÉ and ÓSCAR act as wide attackers who look to cut inside or stretch the play. Their role is to press the opposition full backs and create space for the wing backs to overlap.

This formation offers significant advantages in terms of defensive compactness and wide overloads. When AVS defends, the presence of KIKI and GUILLEM allows them to squeeze the space between the lines and force opponents wide. The transition from a five man defense to a three man attack creates numerical superiority in the wide areas, making it difficult for opponents to mark both the wing backs and the wingers simultaneously.

AVS relies on this 5-2-3 formation to create chaos through high intensity pressing and quick vertical movements. This lineup is best suited for facing teams that play with a high defensive line or struggle to manage transitions.
