Starting Lineup

A heavy focus on high pressing and rapid transitions defines this lineup, which operates in a 4-3-3. The team aims to win it back high up the pitch and use quick vertical passes to catch the opposition before they can settle. This formation is built to dominate much of the play through aggressive pressing and wide attacking movements.

GK acts as the last line of defense, staying alert to sweep behind a high line when the team pushes up. The back line consists of a flat back four where RB and LB provide width by pushing up to overlap the winger. CB and CB form the central pairing, with one acting as a ball playing defender to help play out from the back while the other focuses on being dominant in the air. The defensive unit works to squeeze the space between the lines to keep the block compact.

The midfield uses a three-man midfield with a carrier to control the center of the pitch. LCM and RCM operate as two deep lying pivots who shield the defense and recycle possession to keep the ball moving. ATM plays as an attacking ten behind the striker, acting as the link between the midfield and the attack. This player is responsible to find the feet of the striker and drive forward with the ball to break the line of the opposition defense.

In the attacking phase, the team employs three attackers across the front. RW and LW act as inverted wingers who cut inside to create central threats, while ST works as a pressing centre-forward to harass the opposition back line. The wingers look to isolate a one on one wide or pull wide to stretch the defense. This creates space for ATM to arrive late into the box or for the full backs to deliver a cross on the run.

This formation offers significant advantages in terms of wide overloads from overlapping full backs and the ability to press high in coordinated waves. By using the inverted roles of LW and RW, the team can create numerical superiority in the middle of the pitch. This setup allows the team to transition from a mid block to an attacking stance very quickly.
