Dominating the center of the pitch and looking to overwhelm opponents with numbers is the core identity of River in this 2-5-3 formation. This lineup focuses on aggressive attacking intent and controlling the ball in the final third. By pushing so many players forward, the team aims to pin the opposition back and create constant pressure through high-volume passing and central penetration.

Beltran guards the goal while acting as the first point of distribution for the back line. In front of him, a central defensive pair consisting of Rivero and M. Quarta must stay compact to cover the massive spaces left behind. M. Quarta brings strong aerial strength and composure to help manage the defensive line. These two central defenders must be ready to step up to intercept long balls or drop deep to cover the flanks when the wide midfielders are caught out of position.

The midfield unit operates as a five man block designed to dominate the middle of the park. Acuña and Montiel act as the defensive anchors, with Montiel providing stability while Acuña covers the left side. Moreno and Vera work in the half spaces to drive the team forward and break the line with vertical passes. Sitting just ahead of them, Juanfer operates as the playmaker, looking to find pockets of space and provide killer balls to the front three.

A heavy attacking presence is maintained through three dedicated forwards. Galván and Kendry occupy the wide areas, where they can cut inside to threaten the box or provide width for crosses. Freitas leads the line as the lone striker, tasked with holding up the ball and making runs to pull defenders away from the incoming midfielders. This front three works together to press high, forcing errors from the opposition defense immediately upon turnover.

River creates several tactical advantages through this specific formation. The midfield provides numerical superiority, making it very difficult for opponents to keep the ball through the center. By using Acuña, Montiel, Moreno, and Vera in a compact block, the team can quickly shift the play from one side to the other. Additionally, the presence of Juanfer in the hole allows for quick transitions where the ball moves rapidly from the central midfielders to the attackers.

This high risk high reward system relies on extreme dominance in the middle third to prevent counter attacks. It is best suited for matches where River faces a low block that needs to be broken down through constant pressure and central overload.
