The midfield works as a double pivot to connect the defense to the front line. Rice occupies the left central midfield role to shield the back three and break the line with forward runs. Ødegaard operates on the right of the midfield, acting as the primary creator to find pockets of space and switch play. This pairing must balance defensive work with the need to drive the ball into the final third.

Up front, the team employs three attackers to stretch the opposition. Saka plays on the right wing and loves to cut inside to find scoring chances, while Gordon operates on the left wing to drive at defenders. Alvarez or Havertz leads the line as the lone striker to hold up the ball and link with the midfielders. This front three must press in coordinated waves to prevent the opponent from playing out from the back.
