Starting Lineup

A high pressing and vertical style of football defines RB Leipzig in this 2-5-3 formation. The lineup focuses on winning the ball high up the pitch and breaking the lines quickly to catch opponents out of position. Péter Gulacsi starts between the posts to manage the high line and distribute the ball to start attacks. In the attacking third, the team employs three forwards to stretch the defense. Nusa and Diomande operate as wide attackers, with Nusa cutting inside from the left and Diomande looking to create chances from the right. Romulo leads the line as the lone striker, tasked to hold up the ball and make runs into the channels. These attackers must press intensely to force mistakes and win possession near the opponent goal.

This formation provides significant advantages through its heavy concentration of players in the middle. The midfield group can create numerical superiority to dominate possession or intercept play during a high press.
