The back four works as a disciplined block with Le Normand and Hancko operating as central defenders who focus on marking and aerial strength. Llorente provides energy on the right side to overlap and track back, while T.Hernández pushes up the left to provide width. The defensive unit stays narrow to protect the central zones and force play wide.

The midfield operates in two banks of four to maintain compactness. Koke (C) controls the tempo and links the play with his passing range, while Barrios sits deeper to shield the defense and intercept passes. On the flanks, Lookman and Simeone provide width and high pressing intensity to disrupt the opponent.
