Pisa Football Formation
Starting Lineup
Nicolas · Caracciolo · Calabresi · Canestrelli · Angori · Leris · Aebischer · M. Marin · I. Toure · Tramoni · MoreoPisa utilizes a 3-5-2 formation that focuses on a vertical attacking style and heavy presence in the middle of the pitch. This lineup is built to control the central zones and use quick transitions to catch opponents out of position. The team looks to dominate through central density while maintaining enough coverage to stop counter attacks.
Nicolas acts as the last line of defense in goal. In front of him, the back three consists of Caracciolo, Calabresi, and Canestrelli. Calabresi holds the center of the defense while Caracciolo and Canestrelli cover the wider spaces to prevent crosses. This trio functions as a cohesive unit that can step up to squeeze the space or drop deep to protect the penalty area.
The midfield relies on a single pivot and two central players to control the tempo. M. Marin sits in front of the defense to shield the back line and intercept passes. Aebischer and I. Toure work alongside him to drive the ball forward and connect the defense to the attack. This central block provides the engine for Pisa to move the ball through the middle of the field.
To provide width, Angori and Leris occupy the wide attacking midfield roles. They push high to support the two forwards, Moreo and Tramoni, who lead the line. Moreo works to hold up the ball, while Tramoni looks to make runs into the channels. This front line presses the opposition backline to win the ball back high up the pitch.
One major advantage of this formation is the ability to create numerical superiority in the center of the park. By having five players in the middle, the team can often outnumber the opposition midfield. Another strength is the wide overloads created when Angori and Leris push high, forcing opposing wingers to track back and leave their positions.
Pisa relies on a compact middle and strong central presence to control matches. This formation works best against teams that play with two central midfielders or those that struggle to track runners from deep.
