Arsenal operates in a 5-2-3 formation designed for high pressing and rapid verticality. This lineup relies on heavy pressure in the final third and quick transitions to catch opponents out of position. The intent is to win the ball high up the pitch and push forward immediately to exploit spaces.

Raya starts between the posts to distribute the ball and command his area. Behind him, Zubimendi sits in the center of a back three to act as a ball playing defender. Saliba provides aerial strength and recovery pace on the right, while Gabriel defends the left with his physical presence and strength in the air. On the flanks, Timber acts as the right wing back to provide width, and Calafiori plays as the left wing back to overlap during attacks. The defensive unit stays compact to block passing lanes and cover for the advancing wide players.

The midfield utilizes a double pivot to control the center of the pitch. Rice operates as the left central midfielder, using his passing range and ball winning ability to break the line and shield the defense. Ødegaard plays on the right side of the midfield, acting as the primary creator to connect the defense to the attack with his vision and passing. This pair must work hard to track back when possession is lost and manage the space between the midfield and the defensive line.

Arsenal uses three attackers to stretch the opposition defense. Alvarez plays as a lone striker to hold up the ball and lead the press from the front. On the wings, Saka cuts inside from the right to create goalscoring chances, while Gordon stays wide on the left to deliver crosses. This attacking trio is designed to press in coordinated waves, forcing mistakes from the opposition back line.

This formation provides several tactical advantages, such as wide overloads when Timber and Saka occupy the same flank. The presence of three central defenders allows the wing backs to push high without leaving the middle exposed. Arsenal can also achieve numerical superiority in the final third through the quick movement of the front three. The compact nature of the back five makes it very difficult for opponents to find space between the lines.
