Gravenberch and Szobo work to drive the ball forward and connect the defensive line to the attack. Wirtz operates as an attacking ten, finding pockets of space to create chances and play killer passes into the final third.

The attack features two forwards, Ekitike and Isak, who work together to lead the press. Isak uses his movement to stretch the defense, while Ekitike works to hold up the ball and link play with the midfielders. This two man front line is designed to push the opposition back and create central openings for Wirtz to exploit.
