Starting Lineup

PSG employs a 4-5-1 formation. This lineup is built to be defensively solid and focuses on a high press when the ball is lost. It is a formation designed to control the central areas of the pitch and force opponents into wide positions where they are less dangerous.

Safonov stays in goal to organize the back line. The back four consists of Jorgensen and Resh in the center. The midfield core is composed of five players. Leon plays as an attacking ten to link the midfield to the attack. König and Mayulu sit in the central roles to shield the defense and intercept passes. Monteiro and Silas provide the width on the left and right sides. These players must work hard to shift across the pitch and cover the spaces left by the full backs. The midfield acts as a barrier that forces the opposition to play around the perimeter.

The attacking phase revolves around Charles playing as a lone striker. He must hold up the ball to bring others into play. Leon often pushes up to support him, acting as a second striker in the final third. Monteiro and Silas look to cut inside from the wings to create passing lanes. This movement allows the team to build the attack through quick transitions. The forwards must press the opposition defenders to prevent easy distribution.

A key advantage of this formation is the ability to create numerical superiority in midfield. Having five players in the center allows PSG to dominate the middle and block passing lanes. The team also benefits from the ability to press high in coordinated waves when the opponent tries to build play. This creates pressure that can lead to quick turnovers in dangerous areas.
