Sarajevo utilizes a 5-3-2 formation that focuses on defensive solidity and rapid transitions. This lineup is built to absorb pressure and then hit teams quickly through central channels or wide areas. By staying compact, Sarajevo looks to deny space between the lines while preparing to launch direct vertical attacks.

Banić stands between the posts to organize the back five. Cimirot acts as the central figure in the back line, providing leadership and aerial strength to protect the area. Radeljić and Gojković sit on either side of him, acting as ball playing defenders who can step up to intercept passes. Ristovski and Herrera operate as wing backs, tasked with providing width and covering the entire flanks. Ristovski must track back to help the defense while Herrera pushes high to overlap when the team has the ball.

The midfield works through a central block to control the middle of the pitch. Elezi and Krdžalić occupy the central roles, with Elezi working to connect the defense to the attack and Krdžalić helping to shield the back five. Ljajić plays as the attacking ten, operating in the pockets of space behind the strikers. He looks to drive forward and provide creative passes to break the line. This trio aims to press the opponent in the middle and win the ball back quickly.

Sarajevo employs two forwards in a front two to stretch the opposition. J.Carlos and R.Oliveira work together to hold up the ball and pull defenders out of position. The formation uses these two strikers to press the opposing center backs and force mistakes. When the wing backs push forward, the strikers often move wider to create space for Ljajić to run into. This movement forces the opposition back line to shift constantly.

This formation offers several tactical advantages for the team. The presence of five defenders makes it difficult for opponents to find gaps in the central area. The width provided by Ristovski and Herrera allows the team to create overloads on the flanks during the attacking phase. Additionally, the central trio of Elezi, Krdžalić, and Ljajić provides a compact block that makes it hard for teams to play through the middle.
