The midfield works as a double pivot to control the central zone. Sudakov and Yarmoliuk occupy the two central roles to link the defense to the attack. Sudakov acts as the main creator, using his passing range to find teammates, while Yarmoliuk helps to drive the ball forward and press opponents in the center. This pair must work hard to intercept passes and ensure the opposition cannot play through the middle of the pitch.

Up front, the team utilizes three attackers to stretch the opposition defense. Yaremchuk operates as a lone striker who holds up the ball to bring others into play. Zubkov and Tsygankov play as wide attackers, often cutting inside from the wings to create goal scoring chances. This attacking lineup relies on the movement of the forwards to pull defenders out of position and create gaps for late runs from the midfield.

One major advantage of this formation is the ability to create wide overloads when Mykhaylychenko and Mykolenko overlap the wingers. The team also gains numerical superiority in the defensive zone, making it very difficult for opponents to find space in the box. By playing with three central defenders, Ukraine can maintain compactness when defending deep and transition into a heavy attacking force very quickly.
