BARELLA uses his high pressing intensity to win the ball back quickly, while ANDRÉ holds the position to shield the defense. These two work to connect the defenders to the forward line. When the team moves forward, BARELLA often drives into the box to support the attack. The midfield maintains a compact distance between the lines to prevent opponents from playing through the middle.

In the attacking third, the formation utilizes three players. DIABY and LAUTARO occupy the wide areas, while PIO ESPOSITO works as the lone striker. LAUTARO often cuts inside to create chaos in the box, whereas DIABY looks to use his pace on the flank. PIO ESPOSITO stays central to hold up the ball and wait for support. This attacking trio presses the opposition defenders heavily to force turnovers high up the pitch.

One major advantage of this lineup is the wide overload created by BAKU and DIMARCO when they overlap the wingers. This forces the opposition full backs to make difficult decisions. Another strength is the ability to press high in coordinated waves, with the front three and the midfield working together to trap opponents.
