Inter utilizes a 4-2-4 formation that focuses on a high press and direct verticality. This lineup is built to pin the opposition back and dominate the attacking third through sheer numbers. The team looks to win the ball high up the pitch and quickly move it into dangerous areas to catch the defense out of position.

ATUBOLU guards the goal as the last line of defense. The defensive unit operates with a back four that can step up to maintain a high line. BASTONI acts as a ball playing defender on the left, looking to break the line with his passing range. AKANJI provides stability on the right, using his aerial strength to win headers. LACROIX sits in the center to cover spaces and intercept through balls. BISSECK provides energy on the right flank, ready to overlap into the final third or drop back to protect the wide area.

The midfield functions as a double pivot with BARELLA and ANDRÉ. BARELLA uses his high work rate and passing range to drive the ball forward and connect the defense to the attack. ANDRÉ stays more central to shield the back four and protect the space between the lines. This pair must be ready to intercept passes and immediately look to switch play to the wide players. They are the primary link that moves the ball from the defensive unit to the attacking front.

The front line is extremely aggressive with four attackers. LAUTARO and PIO ESPOSITO play as two central forwards to lead the press and disrupt the opponent. LAUTARO uses his movement to find pockets of space and hold up the ball for his teammates. DIABY and DIMARCO occupy the wide positions to stretch the opposition. DIMARCO often tries to cut inside to join the central action, while DIABY uses his pace to run behind the defense.

A major tactical strength of this Inter lineup is the ability to create wide overloads when BASTONI and DIMARCO push forward together. The team also finds success by pressing high in coordinated waves, using the front four to squeeze the opponent. This creates significant pressure and allows for rapid transitions once the ball is recovered. The formation also makes it hard for opponents to defend the half spaces.

This 4-2-4 formation is designed for total attacking dominance. It is best suited for games against opponents that play a low block and struggle to deal with high numbers in the box.
