Debast operates as the right center back to cover space and step up during the build up, while Inacio plays as the left center back to use his passing range to move the ball forward. The wide players in this defensive block, Bischof and Bellanova, act as wing backs who must cover the entire flank. They shift to become a back five when defending deep or push high to provide width in the attacking phase.

The midfield works in a central duo consisting of Joao Neves and Corral. Joao Neves acts as the engine, using his pressing intensity and ability to intercept passes to protect the back three. Corral works alongside him to connect the defense to the attack, often driving forward to support the press. This central pairing must remain compact to prevent opponents from playing through the middle. They are responsible for tracking back when the team loses the ball and ensuring the distance between the midfield and the defense stays tight.

Up front, Nottm Forest uses three attackers to stretch the opposition. Woltemade leads the line as the lone striker to hold up the ball and create space for others. N.Paz and Cole Palmer operate as wide attackers, with Cole Palmer looking to cut inside and create chances with his dribbling style and passing. These three forwards press in coordinated waves to prevent the opponent from building from the back. The movement of Woltemade allows the wingers to make runs into the box or find space between the lines.

This formation offers several tactical advantages, such as the ability to create wide overloads when Bellanova and Bischof overlap the wingers.
