Starting Lineup

Dukla Praha utilizes a 4-4-2 formation that relies on a direct and hardworking identity. This lineup is built to play a game of verticality, looking to move the ball quickly through the lines to catch the opponent off guard. The team aims to stay compact and use the width of the pitch to stretch the opposing defense, making it a very functional system for rapid transitions.

The defensive unit starts with the GK in goal, who acts as the last line of defense. In front of him, the back four sits in a flat line to maintain compactness. The RB and LB are tasked with covering the wide areas and must track back quickly when the team loses possession. The two central defenders, CD on the right and CD on the left, focus on winning headers and marking the opposing strikers. They step up together to catch attackers offside or drop deep to cover space behind them.

In the middle of the pitch, Dukla Praha uses a central midfield trio that functions as a single pivot with two supporting runners. The CDM sits just in front of the back four to shield the defense and intercept passes. Beside him, the LCM and RCM work to connect the lines by receiving the ball from the defenders and pushing it forward. The AM operates in the pocket between the opposition midfield and defense, looking to create chances or slip through passes to the strikers.

The attacking front line consists of two strikers, LS and RS, who work in close tandem. They often play as two central forwards to pin the opposition central defenders back. One striker might hold up the ball to allow the other to run into space, while the other looks to cut inside and shoot. Their job is to press the opposing backline high up the pitch to force errors and keep the play in the opponent half.

This formation offers several tactical advantages, such as the ability to press high in coordinated waves through the four midfielders and two forwards. By using the RS and LS together, the team can create immediate pressure on the ball. Additionally, the presence of the AM allows the team to find numerical superiority in the central areas when they move into the final third. This makes it hard for opponents to mark everyone effectively.
