Starting Lineup

Palermo utilizes a 3-5-2 formation that focuses on a heavy central presence and a high press. This lineup is built to play a vertical game, looking to win the ball quickly in the middle third to drive directly toward the goal. Palermo wants to control the center of the pitch by flooding the midfield area with players who can press in waves and break lines with direct passes.

Jordan sits between the three central defenders to act as the first point of distribution. The back three consists of Raiderz, Echo, and Tayto, who stay compact to protect the central zone. Raiderz plays as the main ball playing defender to start attacks, while Echo and Tayto provide cover and dominance in the air when defending crosses. This defensive unit functions by staying narrow to force opponents wide, relying on the wing backs to track back and assist the central trio.

The midfield operates with a variety of roles to connect the defense to the front line. Tactcs plays as the attacking ten, sitting just behind the strikers to create chances and find gaps in the opposition block. In the central areas, Myles and Gil work to control the tempo, with one often dropping deep to shield the defense while the other drives forward. On the flanks, Nimmo and Jay act as wide midfielders who must cover the entire length of the pitch, providing width when attacking and dropping into a back five when the team sits deep.

The attacking unit features two forwards, Mikey and Tony, who operate as a strike partnership. They do not stay isolated but work together to hold up the ball and allow the midfield to push up. Mikey and Tony press the opposition center backs constantly to force errors, while their movement creates space for Tactcs to make runs into the box. The team builds attacks through the middle, using the two strikers to pin the defenders back and create room for the advancing midfielders.

One major advantage of this formation is the numerical superiority in midfield, which makes it hard for opponents to pass through the center. The presence of Nimmo and Jay allows for wide overloads when they overlap the wingers, creating situations where the team can switch play rapidly. Additionally, the three central defenders provide a strong base that allows the midfielders to press high without fearing a long ball over the top.

This 3-5-2 formation relies on high intensity and strong central control to overwhelm opponents. It is best suited for games against teams that play with a narrow midfield or those that struggle to handle constant pressure in the central zones.
