Atlético Nacional operates with a 4-3-3 formation that focuses on a high press and rapid vertical play. A primary goal is to dominate the pitch through aggressive positioning and quick transitions. This lineup is built to win the ball high up the field and immediately look for ways to break the lines of the opposition defense.

Ospina begins the play from goal, using his experience to organize the back line and distribute the ball accurately. The defensive unit works as a compact unit, with García and Tesillo forming the center of the back four. Tesillo brings aerial strength to defend crosses, while García focuses on covering space and intercepting passes. On the sides, romano and Casco act as wide defenders who frequently overlap to support the attack. Width is maintained while the central defenders hold the line.

The midfield features an attacking ten to connect the defense to the attack. Cardona plays in the right central role, utilizing his wide passing range and set piece delivery to move the ball forward. Campuzano works on the left side to shield the defense and track back when the team loses possession. Bello operates in that attacking ten role to create passing lanes. One major strength for Atlético Nacional is the ability to create numerical superiority in wide areas. When romano or Casco push forward, they create overloads alongside Rengifo or Sarmiento. Another advantage is the speed of transition when the ball is recovered. The team can quickly switch play through Cardona to find space on the opposite flank.
