Ceará operates within a 4-3-3 formation that aims to play a vertical style of football. The lineup relies on quick transitions to move the ball from the back to the front line as fast as possible. This team looks to control the tempo through central passing while using wide areas to stretch the opposition.

Richard sits between the posts to organize the back line. The defensive unit works as a flat back four, where Júlio and Éder act as the central pair to block shots and win headers. Rafael plays as an overlapping full back on the right to provide width, while Fernando stays wide on the left to help the transition. The two central defenders must step up to catch attackers offside and cover the space behind the full backs when they push high.

The midfield uses a three man unit to control the center of the pitch. Vina plays as the attacking ten, looking to break the line with forward passes and connect the defense to the attackers. Dieguinho and Zanocelo work to shield the defense and cover ground in the middle. One of them will drive forward to support the attack, while the other stays deeper to intercept passes and win the ball back.

Ceará utilizes three attackers to pressure the opponent. Wendel acts as the lone striker to hold up the ball and fight for long passes. On the wings, Fernandinho and Juan act as inverted wingers who cut inside to create shooting opportunities or provide passes into the box. This movement creates space for the midfielders to run into, and the front three work together to press high when the ball is lost.

This formation offers several tactical advantages. The team can create wide overloads when Rafael or Fernando overlap their wingers to overwhelm the opponent. By using Vina in a central attacking role, the side gains numerical superiority in the final third. The ability to switch play quickly between the wingers and the central striker allows the team to exploit gaps in a low block.
