Starting Lineup

GLAUCO · DOUGLAS (PELÉ) · JHONATHAN · SIDIMAR · RODRIGO (GELADO) · GIAN (CABEZAS) · FABRÍCIO (ISIDORO) · JOTA · RUAN (ASSIS) · LÉO (CHÚ) · SAMUEL (OTUSANYA)

ABC relies on a 5-4-1 formation to remain defensively solid. This lineup focuses on sitting deep and waiting for the opposition to push forward. The main goal is to remain compact and use a low block to deny space between the lines. It is a setup built to absorb pressure and launch quick vertical transitions when the ball is recovered.

SAMUEL acts as the last line of defense behind a back five. JOTA, FABRÍCIO, and GIAN form the central trio to protect the middle of the pitch. JOTA and FABRÍCIO work to cover space and win aerial duels, while GIAN provides support to clear the ball. RUAN and LÉO occupy the wing back positions, needing to track back constantly to defend the flanks. They must drop deep to form a flat five when the opponent has the ball, but they are also expected to push up to provide width during transitions.

The midfield operates in a flat four to keep the lines close together. SIDIMAR and JHONATHAN sit in the center to shield the defense and intercept passes. They try to break the line with direct passes once the ball is won. DOUGLAS and RODRIGO play on the flanks to mark the opposing wide players and prevent crosses. This group focuses on staying compact to prevent opponents from playing through the middle of the park.

ABC uses a lone striker in GLAUCO to lead the line. Because there is only one forward, GLAUCO must hold up the ball to allow the midfielders to move up the pitch. He works to press the opposition defenders and disrupt their build up. The wide players, DOUGLAS and RODRIGO, look to support him by running into space or delivering crosses from the wings. The attack relies on long balls and quick movement to catch the defense off guard.

One major advantage is the compactness when defending in a low block. This formation makes it very hard for opponents to find gaps in the middle. Another strength is the ability to use wide overloads when RUAN and LÉO step up to support the attack. By having five defenders, the team is very difficult to break down in central areas, which forces the opposition to play wide and less dangerous balls.

This formation provides a very strong defensive base for ABC. It is best suited for matches against teams that dominate possession where the goal is to sit deep and strike on the counter.
