Starting Lineup

PAU (LÓPEZ) · HÉCTOR (BELLERÍN) · MARC (BARTRA) · NATAN (SOUZA) · RICARDO (RODRÍGUEZ) · SOFYAN (AMRABAT) · PABLO (FORNALS) · GIOVANI (LO CELSO) · ANTONY · ABDE (EZZALZOULI) · CUCHO (HERNÁNDEZ)

Real Betis utilizes a 5-2-3 formation that focuses on high pressing and quick vertical transitions. This lineup is built to win the ball high up the pitch and use wide players to stretch the opposition. The goal is to create a heavy offensive presence while maintaining a solid base to prevent counter attacks.

PAU sits between the defenders to sweep up long balls and start the buildup from the back. The defensive unit features a back three consisting of SOFYAN, NATAN, and MARC. SOFYAN acts as the central anchor to hold the line, while NATAN and MARC cover the spaces beside him. RICARDO and HÉCTOR act as wing backs, pushing high to provide width and crossing opportunities. They must track back quickly to ensure the team does not get caught out on the break.

The midfield works with a double pivot consisting of PABLO and GIOVANI. These two players sit in front of the back three to shield the defense and intercept passes. PABLO and GIOVANI are responsible for breaking the lines with forward passes to the attackers. They must cover a lot of ground to link the defense to the front line and ensure the team remains compact when the opposition has the ball.

Real Betis attacks with three forwards, using ABDE and ANTONY as wide attackers. ABDE often cuts inside from the left to create space for RICARDO to overlap, while ANTONY uses his dribbling to drive toward the box from the right. CUCHO operates as a lone striker to hold up the ball and finish chances. The front three press intensely to force turnovers in the final third, allowing the team to attack immediately.

This formation offers great tactical advantages, specifically in creating wide overloads through the movement of RICARDO and HÉCTOR. The team can also achieve numerical superiority in the attacking third by shifting into a front five during sustained pressure. By using a back three, the team remains very compact when defending deep, making it hard for opponents to find gaps.

The 5-2-3 formation provides a balance between heavy attacking width and defensive security. It is a setup best suited for games where the team wants to press high and exploit the spaces behind the opposition wing backs.
