Osasuna Football Formation
Starting Lineup
SERGIO (HERRERA) · VALENTIN (ROSIER) · ENZO (BOYOMO) · ALEJANDRO (CATENA) · JAVI (GALÁN) · LUCAS (TORRÓ) · JON (MONCAYOLA) · AIMAR (OROZ) · VICTOR (MUÑOZ) · RUBÉN (GARCÍA) · ANTE (BUDIMIR)Osasuna utilizes a 4-3-3 formation. This lineup is built to play a high press and vertical football that looks to force turnovers in the middle third. The team seeks to win the ball high up the pitch and move it forward quickly to catch the opposition out of position.
SERGIO acts as the last line of defense behind a flat back four. ALEJANDRO and ENZO operate as the central defenders, where they must hold the line and cover space when the full backs push forward. JAVI and VALENTIN play as wide defenders who are expected to overlap to provide width in the final third. The defensive unit works to stay compact, with the back four shifting together to block passing lanes and intercept crosses.
The midfield functions with a combination of central roles that connect the defense to the attack. LUCAS and JON occupy the central spaces to shield the back line and break the line with forward passes. AIMAR operates in the attacking ten role to create chances and drive the ball into the box. This trio works to control the tempo, with LUCAS and JON pressing to win back possession while AIMAR looks to find space between the opponent lines.
Osasuna employs three attackers to stretch the opposition. ANTE plays as a lone striker to hold up the ball and bring others into play. RUBÉN and VICTOR act as wide wingers, looking to cut inside or stay wide to create crossing opportunities. These three forwards lead the press, forcing the opposing defenders to play long balls or make risky passes under pressure.
This formation offers several tactical advantages. The team can create wide overloads when VALENTIN or JAVI overlap the wingers. The ability to press high in coordinated waves makes it hard for opponents to build play from the back. When the ball is won, the verticality allows for a quick speed of transition to catch the defense while they are still pushing forward.
This 4-3-3 formation is built for an aggressive, high pressing identity. It is best suited for games against teams that struggle to play out from the back under intense pressure.
