Mallorca employs a 4-3-3 formation designed for a high press and rapid transitions. This lineup is built to win the ball back high up the pitch and move it toward the goal immediately. The team controls matches by using the full width of the pitch and staying compact when the ball is lost in the middle third.

LEO sits in goal to organize the defensive unit and direct his teammates. The back line features a flat back four where MARASH and MARTIN occupy the central roles. MARASH and MARTIN must cover the space behind the full backs and remain strong in the air to win headers. JOHAN and PABLO operate as overlapping full backs, pushing high to provide width and extra passing options. This requires JOHAN and PABLO to track back quickly to prevent being caught out on the counter attack.

The midfield unit relies on MANU and SAMÚ to control the center of the pitch. These two players sit deeper to shield the defense and break the line with forward passes. They connect the back four to the rest of the team by shifting side to side. SERGI acts as the attacking ten, playing in the pockets between the lines to create scoring opportunities. To support the strike force, SERGI must drive forward into the box and link the play.

The attacking phase works with three forwards to pin the opposition back. VEDAT plays as a lone striker, working to hold up the ball and wait for support from the runners. ZITO and MATEO act as wide wingers on the flanks to stretch the defense. Both ZITO and MATEO look to cut inside to shoot or cross the ball into the penalty area. The front line must press hard to force mistakes in the opposition half and win the ball back.

Mallorca can create wide overloads by having JOHAN and PABLO push high up the pitch to double up with the wingers. This forces the opposing defense to shift and creates gaps for the midfielders to exploit. A second strength is the ability to press in coordinated waves led by VEDAT and the wide players. The ability of MANU and SAMÚ to intercept play allows for quick transitions when the ball is won in the middle third.

This 4-3-3 formation is a high intensity system built on pressing and quick vertical passing. It is best used against opponents that play a high line or struggle to pass under pressure.
