Napoli utilizes a 4-3-3 formation to play a high press and vertical style of football. This lineup is built to win the ball high up the pitch and quickly move it into the final third. The goal is to use speed and directness to break lines and catch the opposition out of position before they can settle.

VANJA plays between the posts to command the area and start attacks. The back line consists of a flat back four with SAM and ALESSANDRO acting as the central defenders. SAM provides cover and aerial strength while ALESSANDRO works to intercept passes and step up to defend the high line. GIOVANNI and MATHÍAS act as overlapping full backs, pushing high to provide width and support the midfield. The defensive unit works to keep the team compact while squeezing the space in the middle of the pitch.

The midfield operates with a three man central unit to control the center. SCOTT acts as the single pivot to shield the defense and break the line with vertical passes. To his left, FRANK works to drive forward and press opponents to win possession back quickly. KEVIN plays as the attacking midfielder to connect the lines and create chances for the front three. This trio helps Napoli maintain control by shifting side to side to find pockets of space.

Napoli uses three attackers to stretch the opponent. ROMELU acts as the lone striker to hold up the ball and act as a target for crosses. On the flanks, DAVID and MATTEO play as wide wingers who look to cut inside and threaten the goal. The wingers press the opposition full backs heavily to force mistakes. This attacking formation creates constant movement, pulling defenders out of position to leave gaps for late runs.

This formation offers significant tactical advantages through its ability to press high in coordinated waves. The overlapping runs from GIOVANNI and MATHÍAS create wide overloads that force the defense to shift and leave gaps in the center. Additionally, the positioning of KEVIN and ROMELU allows the team to isolate wide players in one on one situations once they break the initial press.

The 4-3-3 is a high intensity formation built for aggressive pressing and rapid transitions. It is best suited for games where the team wants to dominate the ball and force the opponent into mistakes in their own half.
