Inter uses a 2-4-4 formation that aims for a heavy attacking presence. This lineup is built to play vertical football by flooding the final third with players to overwhelm the opposition. The goal is to commit men forward and force the game into the opponent's half through aggressive positioning and high numbers in the attacking zones.

Spinaccè stays between the posts to act as the last line of defense. Behind the midfield, Mancuso and De Pieri operate as a central pair in a narrow back two. They must stay compact and cover large amounts of space because they lack full backs to help them. These two central defenders need to be ready to step up to intercept long balls or drop back to protect the space behind them when the team loses possession.

The midfield operates in a flat four to control the center of the pitch. Berenbruch and Kaczmarski occupy the central roles to connect the defense to the front line. Berenbruch and Kaczmarski must work to break the line with vertical passes while also tracking back to help the two defenders. On the flanks, Marello and Agbonifo provide the width to stretch the opposing midfield and allow the central players to find pockets of space.

Inter utilizes a front four that creates massive pressure on the opposition defense. Stante and Calligaris play as two central forwards to occupy the center backs and hold up the ball. On the wings, Cinquegrano and Stabile act as wide attackers to drive toward the goal. This front line is designed to press high and force turnovers, using the width provided by the wingers to create crossing opportunities or cut inside to shoot.

This formation offers a significant advantage through its ability to create wide overloads and constant pressure in the box. By having four attackers and two wide midfielders, Inter can flood the penalty area during transitions. The high number of players in the attacking half makes it very difficult for the opposition to build play from the back, as the coordinated press from Cinquegrano, Stabile, Stante, and Calligaras limits passing options.

This 2-4-4 formation is a high risk, high reward tactic centered on overwhelming the opponent with numbers. It is best suited for games where the team needs to chase a goal or face a low block opponent.
