Starting Lineup

Finn · Alexia · Ruaraidh · Calum · Donald · Archie · Danny · Seamus · Rauraidh T · Mairi-Sìne · Isaac

Canada utilizes a 3-4-3 formation. This lineup is built to play a high press and use verticality to catch opponents off guard. The team looks to win the ball high up the pitch and push forward quickly to exploit spaces left behind the opposition defense.

Isaac plays between the posts to start the build up from the back. The defensive unit relies on a back three consisting of Mairi-Sìne, Seamus, and Rauraidh T. Seamus acts as the central anchor to hold the line, while Mairi-Sìne and Rauraidh T provide cover on the left and right. This back three must step up to compress the space when the team presses, ensuring the gap between the defense and midfield stays small.

The midfield is configured as a central block featuring Donald, Danny, and Archie, with Calum playing as an attacking midfielder. Donald and Danny work to shield the back three and intercept passes in the middle third. Archie drives forward to connect the lines, while Calum operates in the pockets of space behind the strikers to create chances. This group works to win the second ball and quickly switch play to the wide areas.

Canada employs three attackers to stretch the opposition. Finn acts as the lone striker to hold up the ball and lead the press from the front. On the flanks, Ruaraidh and Alexia play as wide wingers who look to cut inside and run at the defenders. This arrangement creates constant movement in the final third, forcing defenders to make difficult decisions on whether to track the runners or sit deep.

One major tactical strength is the ability to press high in coordinated waves, using the front three to force mistakes. The formation also allows for quick transitions where Calum can find the wingers immediately after a turnover. By having three central players in midfield, the team can often find numerical superiority to dominate the center of the pitch.

This 3-4-3 formation is designed for an aggressive, high energy style of play. It is best suited for games against teams that play with a high defensive line and can be caught out by rapid vertical passes.
