Starting Lineup

Palermo utilizes a 3-5-2 formation that focuses on control through the middle of the pitch. This lineup is built to play a heavy possession game by using a crowded central area to dictate the tempo. The goal is to dominate the ball and use the wide areas to stretch the opposition when central paths are blocked.

Jordan operates as the lone goalkeeper behind a back three. Echo sits in the center of the defense to act as the main covering defender. Percy plays as the right center back while Tayto takes the left center back role. This back three remains compact to protect the central zone. The width comes from the wing backs who must track back to help the defenders and step up to support the press.

The midfield works as a central engine room with Gil playing as the attacking ten. Gil sits behind the central midfielders Charlie and Leighton to connect the lines. Charlie and Leighton occupy the central spaces to hold the ball and break the line with forward passes. Joao plays on the right as a wide midfielder while Prub operates on the left. These two wide players provide the necessary width to support the central group.

Palermo uses two forwards in the attacking line. Jay plays as the left striker while Mikey acts as the right striker. They work together to press the opposition defenders and hold up the ball to bring the midfielders into the attack. These two forwards move across the line to create space for Gil to run into the box. The attack relies on quick passing between the two strikers and the attacking midfielder.

One major advantage of this formation is the numerical superiority in the central midfield. Having Charlie, Leighton, and Gil allows Palermo to control the ball and outnumber opponents in the middle. The team also creates wide overloads because Joao and Prub can push high to overlap the central defenders.
