Unión (SF) utilizes a 4-2-4 formation. This lineup is built to play a very vertical game that focuses on overwhelming the opposition in the final third. The identity centers on high pressing and rapid transitions to catch the opponent out of position. By pushing many players forward, Unión (SF) looks to force turnovers high up the pitch and strike quickly.

Juan M. Kuverling operates in goal to protect the back line. The defense consists of a flat back four with Lucas Ayala on the left and Nazareno Fazzi on the right. In the center, Ignacio Isla and Tomás Fagioli hold the line. Isla and Fagioli must stay compact to cover the space behind the midfield, while Ayala and Fazzi are expected to push up to support the wide players. The defensive unit must stay disciplined to prevent being caught on the counter when the team commits men forward.

The midfield employs a double pivot consisting of Mateo Peresutti and Santino Vera. These two players act as the engine room, tasked with shielding the back four and breaking up play. Peresutti and Vera must work hard to intercept passes and immediately find the front four. They connect the defense to the attack by recycling possession and making vertical passes to skip through the opponent's lines. Their main job is to hold the center so the attackers can stay high.

The attacking unit is heavy with four players, featuring two wide wingers and two central forwards. Ignacio Pedano plays on the left wing while Santiago Grella operates on the right. Both wide players look to cut inside or provide width to stretch the defense. Ricardo Solbes and Valentín Cerrudo act as the two central strikers, working together to occupy the opposition center backs. This front line presses aggressively to prevent the opponent from building from the back, using constant movement to create gaps.

One major tactical advantage is the ability to create wide overloads when the wingers and full backs combine. The 4-2-4 formation also allows for rapid speed of transition, as the team already has four players positioned near the opponent's goal. By keeping the distance between the double pivot and the strikers short, the team can strike quickly after an interception. This setup forces the opposing defense to stay deep, creating space for the midfielders to operate.
