Sporting CP utilizes a 4-3-3 formation to control games. This lineup is built to play a high press and maintain heavy possession in the opponent half. The team looks to dominate the ball and use vertical passes to break lines quickly.

JOÃO acts as the last line of defense in goal. The defensive unit operates with a flat back four where GEORGI and OUSMANE occupy the right and center positions. OUSMANE provides aerial strength and coverage, while EDUARDO sits on the left to help build play from the back. RICARDO plays as an attacking full back on the left to provide width. The back four must step up together to keep the lines compact and prevent long balls behind them.

The midfield works as a trio to control the center of the pitch. GIORGI and DANIEL act as the engine room, with one player often dropping deeper to shield the defense while the other drives forward into space. JOÃO operates as an attacking ten to connect the midfield to the forwards. This player looks to find pockets of space and deliver the final pass. The connection between the midfield trio and the back four ensures the team can transition from defense to attack without losing control.

In the attacking phase, Sporting CP uses three attackers to stretch the opposition. FOTIS leads the line as a lone striker, tasked to hold up the ball and bring others into play. LUÍS and GENY operate as wide wingers, with LUÍS looking to cut inside from the left and GENY to use his pace on the right flank. This formation creates constant movement in the final third, forcing defenders to mark heavily and leaving gaps for late runs from the midfield.

One major advantage of this formation is the ability to create wide overloads when RICARDO and GEORGI push high. The team also benefits from a heavy press in the attacking third, using the front three to force turnovers. When the ball is won back, the quick movement of GENY and LUÍS allows for rapid transitions that catch opponents out of position.

This 4-3-3 formation makes Sporting CP a very aggressive team that seeks to dominate through possession and pressing. It is best suited for games where the team wants to pin the opponent in their own half and control the tempo.
