The defensive unit works together to step up and squeeze the space between the lines.

The midfield works as a trio to connect the defense and the attack. HYUN-JU plays as an attacking ten, sitting just behind the forwards to find pockets of space. In front of him, TAICHI and ESPEN operate in the central areas to control the tempo. TAICHI and ESPEN must track back to help the defense and shield the center, while also looking to break the line with forward passes. This trio ensures the team can shift from defense to attack rapidly.

The attack features three players working in close proximity. IVÁN acts as the lone striker to hold up the ball and lead the press. On the wings, ALFONSO and NAÏS provide width and look to cut inside to create chances. ALFONSO and NAÏS make runs behind the defense to stretch the opponent, while IVÁN works to find space in the box. The attacking unit is designed to create high pressure in the final third.

Arouca possesses a few clear tactical advantages with this formation. The presence of HYUN-JU in the hole allows the team to create numerical superiority in the attacking half. Additionally, the movement of AMADOU and TIAGO creates wide overloads that pull defenders out of position. The coordination between the midfielders and the attackers allows for a fast speed of transition when turning defense into attack.
