On the wings, MOUDJATOVIC and ARJEN VAN act as wide attackers who want to cut inside or stay wide to receive crosses. The wingers are expected to press high when the ball is lost, forcing the opponent into mistakes. These movements are designed to create space for XABI to operate in the pockets of space.

One tactical advantage of this formation is the ability to create wide overloads when RÉMY and TIAGO overlap their respective wingers.
