Norwich Football Formation
Starting Lineup
VLADAN (KOVACEVIC) · JACK (STACEY) · JOSÉ (CÓRDOBA) · HARRY (DARLING) · HARRY (AMASS) · PELLE (MATTSSON) · ANIS BEN (SLIMANE) · KENNY (McLEAN) · OSCAR (SCHWARTAU) · MATEJ (JURASEK) · JOVON (MAKAMA)Norwich plays a 4-3-3 formation. The team aims to play a vertical style of football that relies on quick transitions to catch the opposition off guard. This lineup is built to push players forward and use the width of the pitch to stretch the defensive lines of the opponent.
Vladan starts between the posts to anchor the defensive unit. The back line functions as a flat back four with Harry and José acting as the central defenders. Harry and José must hold the line and cover for one another when a teammate steps up to press. On the flanks, Harry and Jack operate as full backs who need to balance their duties. They must track back to mark wide players while also looking to overlap during attacking phases to provide support.
The midfield utilizes a single pivot with two more advanced players surrounding him to control the center of the pitch. Pelle works to shield the defense and intercept passes before they reach the back four. Anis Ben drives forward from the right side to link the defense to the attack. Kenny plays as the attacking ten in the middle to create chances and break the line with through balls. This trio works to connect the defensive unit with the front three through short and long passes.
Norwich utilizes three attackers to lead the press. Jovon operates as a lone striker who needs to hold up the ball and fight for position against central defenders. Matej and Oscar act as wide attackers who look to cut inside into the half spaces. Matej stays on the left while Oscar stays on the right to create width. These three forwards press high up the pitch to force turnovers in dangerous areas.
This formation offers several tactical advantages. The team can create wide overloads when Jack and Harry push forward to support Oscar and Matej. Using Kenny in the hole allows the team to find numerical superiority in the central areas of the pitch. The frontline's ability to press high in coordinated waves can disrupt the build up play of the opposition.
The 4-3-3 formation for Norwich is built for direct and aggressive play. This lineup is best suited for games against teams that play a high defensive line and leave space behind their defenders.
