Preston plays a 4-3-3 formation that focuses on high pressing and quick transitions. This lineup is built to win the ball back high up the pitch and push the team forward immediately after an interception. The goal is to play a vertical game that forces the opponent to drop deep.

DANIEL starts in goal to organize the back line. The defensive unit operates with a flat back four where POL acts as the right back to push up and provide width. On the left, ANDRIJA holds his position but can overlap to support the attack. In the center, LIAM and JORDAN must stay compact to cover space between the lines. LIAM works to intercept passes while JORDAN focuses on his aerial strength and positioning to block crosses.

The midfield works in a three man unit to control the center of the pitch. ALFIE and ALI occupy the central roles to shield the defense and break up play. ALFIE often drives forward to connect the defense to the attack while ALI holds his position to sit deep and cover for the advancing full backs. ANDREW plays as an attacking midfielder to operate in the pockets of space between the opposition midfield and defense. He looks to pass through the lines to unlock the back four.

Up front, Preston utilizes three attackers to stretch the opposition. MILUTIN leads the line as a lone striker who works to hold up the ball and bring others into play. On the wings, THIERRY and LEWIS act as inverted wingers who cut inside to create shooting opportunities. THIERRY uses his dribbling style to beat his marker while LEWIS pushes wide to stretch the defense before moving into central areas. Their movement forces the opposing full backs to stay narrow.

One major advantage of this formation is the ability to press high in coordinated waves. When the forwards press, the midfield trio of ALFIE, ALI, and ANDREW step up to close down passing lanes. Another strength is the creation of wide overloads when POL and ANDRIJA overlap their respective wingers. This puts immense pressure on the opposition flanks and allows the team to switch play quickly to the opposite side.

This 4-3-3 formation relies on intense energy and quick vertical passing to break down opponents. It is best suited for matches against teams that struggle to play out from the back under pressure.
