Lommel SK Football Formation
Starting Lineup
MARCOS (PEANO) · JORDI (LIONGOLA) · YLLAN (OKOU) · MAXENCE (MAISONNEUVE) · THIERRY (LUTONDA) · MAJEED (ASHIMERU) · SAMI (LAHSSAINI) · JOËL (ITO) · OWEN (MAËS) · PAPE MOUSSA (FALL) · JERRY (AFRIYIE)Lommel SK utilizes a 4-2-4 formation designed for aggressive, vertical football. This lineup focuses on getting the ball forward quickly to pin the opponent back. It is a high-risk, high-reward system built to overwhelm the opposition in the final third by flooding the attacking zones.
MARCOS stays between the posts to anchor the defensive unit. The back line consists of a flat four where JORDI and THIERRY occupy the wide positions. JORDI looks to overlap and provide width on the right, while THIERRY covers the left flank. In the center, MAXENCE and YLLAN act as the primary defenders, with one tasked to step up and intercept while the other stays back to cover. The defensive unit must remain compact to prevent being bypassed by quick transitions.
The midfield operates as a double pivot to provide a buffer between the defense and the attack. MAJEED and SAMI sit in front of the back four to shield the center. Their primary job is to intercept passes and quickly switch play to the wide areas. MAJEED and SAMI must work hard to track back when the team loses possession, ensuring they do not leave the two central defenders isolated against a counter attack.
Lommel SK employs four attackers to create constant pressure. JOËL and OWEN play as wide wingers, looking to cut inside or hit crosses into the box. PAPE MOUSSA and JERRY operate as a strike duo in the center. This two-man front line is designed to hold up the ball and engage the opposition defenders immediately. The wingers and forwards press in coordinated waves to force mistakes high up the pitch.
One major advantage of this formation is the ability to create wide overloads when JORDI or THIERRY push forward to support the wingers. The heavy presence in the box makes it difficult for defenders to mark both PAPE MOUSSA and JERRY. Additionally, the four attackers allow the team to press high and force the opponent into long balls that the defensive unit can win.
This 4-2-4 formation creates a direct and punishing attacking threat. It is best suited for games where the team needs to chase a result or face an opponent that sits deep in a low block.
