Starting Lineup

MAARTEN (PAES) · ANTON (GAAEI) · KO (ITAKURA) · AARON (BOUWMAN) · OWEN (WIJNDAL) · JORTHY (MOKIO) · KIAN (FITZ-JIM) · RAYANE (BOUNIDA) · MAHER (CARRIZO) · OLIVER (EDVARDSEN) · WOUT (WEGHORST)

Ajax uses a 4-3-3 formation that focuses on high pressing and quick verticality. This lineup is built to dominate the ball in the opponent's half and force mistakes high up the pitch. The goal is to use constant movement to break lines and create scoring opportunities through direct attacking play.

MAARTEN operates between the posts to start the build up from the back. The defense sits as a high line with AARON and KO acting as the central pair to cover space behind the midfield. ANTON pushes high to provide width on the right while OWEN overlaps on the left to support the wingers. These defenders must stay compact and step up together to catch attackers offside or intercept long balls.

The midfield works in a three man unit to control the center of the pitch. JORTHY and KIAN operate in the central areas to shield the defense and link the back line to the attack. RAYANE plays as an attacking ten to push into the pockets of space between the opposition midfield and defense. This group uses short passes to move the ball and drives forward to support the front three.

Ajax uses three attackers to stretch the opposition defense. WOUT plays as a lone striker to hold up the ball and link play with the midfielders. OLIVER and MAHER act as wide wingers who cut inside to shoot or cross the ball into the box. The forwards press in coordinated waves to prevent the opponent from playing out from the back and create turnovers in dangerous areas.

One strength of this formation is the ability to create wide overloads when ANTON and OWEN push forward. The midfield also provides numerical superiority in the center when RAYANE moves into the final third. This allows the team to isolate MAHER or OLIVER in one on one situations against the full backs.

This 4-3-3 formation relies on intense pressing and rapid transitions to overwhelm opponents. It is best suited for games against teams that struggle to play under pressure or defend in wide areas.
