Inter Football Formation
Starting Lineup
LAUTARO (Pio Esposito) · CHAÏBI * (Diouf, Topalovic) · DIABY * (Bonny) · DIMARCO (Cocchi) · PORRO * (Kamate) · ANDRÉ * (A.Stankovic *) · BARELLA (Zielinski, Sucic) · BASTONI (Alexiou) · LACROIX * (Akanji) · BISSECK (Van Hecke *) · JOSEP ou ATUBOLU * (Calligaris)Inter utilizes a 3-4-3 formation that prioritizes verticality and aggressive pressing. This lineup is built to control wide areas while maintaining a heavy presence in the final third to break lines quickly. Inter aims to win the ball high up the pitch and use rapid transitions to catch opponents off guard.
At the back, Josep ou Atubolu guards the goal. The defensive unit operates as a back three with Lacroix acting as the central anchor. Bastoni occupies the left side of this trio, using his passing range to start attacks from deep. Bisseck sits on the right to provide coverage and strength. The wide players, Dimarco on the left and Porro on the right, act as wing backs who push high to provide width. These players are expected to overlap to support the attack while tracking back to maintain a compact block when the team loses possession.
The midfield functions as a double pivot to control the center of the pitch. André sits in a deeper role to shield the back three and intercept passes. Barella operates alongside him, driving forward into spaces to link the defense with the attack. This pairing must work hard to cover the ground between the defensive line and the front three. By pressing in the middle, they prevent opponents from building play through the center.
The attacking unit consists of three forwards working in close proximity. Lautaro operates as the lone striker, holding up the ball and making runs to stretch the defense. Chaïbi stays wide on the left to cut inside, while Diaby occupies the right flank to use his dribbling style to beat markers. These attackers press high in coordinated waves to force errors from the opposition. The movements of the front three are designed to create space for the midfielders to arrive late in the box.
One tactical advantage of this formation is the ability to create wide overloads through the movement of Dimarco and Porro. This forces opposition wingers to track back deep into their own half. Another strength is the capacity to press high, as the front three and the central midfielders can squeeze the space around the opponent's ball carrier. The presence of Bastoni and Barella allows the team to switch play quickly to exploit gaps in the defensive line.
This 3-4-3 formation creates a heavy attacking force capable of overwhelming much of the opposition. It is best suited for matches where the team wants to dominate possession and apply constant pressure on a high defensive line.
