Qatar National Football Team Formation
Starting Lineup
M.Barsham · H.Ahmed · T.Salman · B.Khoukhi (C) · P.Miguel · A.Madibo · K.Boudiaf · Edmilson Jr. · A.Al-Ganehi · Almoez Ali · Akram AfifQatar utilizes a 4-2-4 formation. This lineup is built to play a vertical brand of football that focuses on rapid transitions and heavy pressure in the final third. The intention is to overwhelm the opposition through direct attacking movements and quick ball progression to the front four.
M.Barsham acts as the last line of defense in goal. Ahead of him, the back line sits in a flat back four. B.Khoukhi (C) leads the defense from the left center back position, using his aerial strength and ability to lead the line. P.Miguel covers the right center back spot to provide stability. On the flanks, H.Ahmed plays as the left back while T.Salman operates as the right back, both tasked with tracking back to prevent wide breaks.
The midfield functions as a double pivot to provide a screen for the defense. A.Madibo and K.Boudiaf occupy the central roles, where they must work to intercept passes and break the lines with forward runs. They serve as the vital link, receiving the ball from the defenders and quickly shifting play to the attackers. This two man unit must cover a lot of ground to prevent the opposition from playing through the middle.
The attacking unit is comprised of four players, using two wide wingers and two central forwards. Edmilson Jr. operates on the left wing and A.Al-Ganehi plays on the right wing to provide width. In the center, Akram Afif and Almoez Ali play as the two forwards. Akram Afif uses his dribbling and passing range to create chances, while Almoez Ali looks to hold up the ball and finish. This front line is designed to press high and force mistakes near the opponent's goal.
One major advantage for Qatar is the ability to create immediate goal scoring opportunities through heavy verticality. The formation allows for wide overloads when the wingers and full backs coordinate their runs. Additionally, the presence of two central strikers creates constant pressure on the opposition center backs, making it difficult for them to step up and defend the space behind.
This 4-2-4 formation prioritizes attacking numbers and high pressing intensity. It is a lineup best suited for games where Qatar needs to chase a result or exploit a high defensive line.
