JOSEP stays between the posts to organize the back line. The defense functions as a back three with BASTONI acting as a ball playing defender on the left. BISSECK holds his position on the right while LACROIX provides strength in the center. These three defenders must step up together to compress the space and catch opponents offside.

The midfield consists of a central pair and two wide players. CALHANOGLU sits in the middle to control the tempo and use his passing range to break the line. BARELLA works alongside him to press hard and drive forward into the attacking third. On the flanks, DIMARCO and PORRO act as wing backs who push high to provide width. DIMARCO often cuts inside to create extra passing options while PORRO tracks back to help the defense.
