Inter plays a 3-4-3 formation that focuses on a high press and verticality. JOSEP / ATUBOLU* acts as the last line of defense behind a back three. LACROIX* sits in the center to provide aerial strength and command the area, while BASTONI occupies the left side of the defensive unit to act as a ball playing defender with a wide passing range. BISSECK completes the trio on the right, providing cover and depth. The wide players, PORRO* and DIMARCO, function as wing backs who must push high up the pitch to provide width while tracking back to support the defensive line when they lose the ball.

The midfield operates with a central pairing of BARELLA and CALHANOGLU. CALHANOGLU acts as the deep playmaker, using his passing range to break the line and switch play to the flanks. BARELLA provides the engine in the middle, using his pressing intensity to hunt the ball and drive the team forward through the center. These two connect the back three to the attacking trio, ensuring the ball moves quickly from the defensive third into the attacking zones.

In the attacking third, the team uses three forwards to stretch the opposition. LAUTARO leads the line as the lone striker, tasked to hold up the ball and lead the press from the front. CHAÏBI* operates from the left wing, while DIABY* or GNONTO* occupies the right side. These wide players often cut inside to create space for the overlapping runs of DIMARCO and PORRO*. This movement forces defenders to make difficult decisions about whether to mark the wingers or the advancing wing backs.

This formation offers significant tactical advantages, particularly through the ability to press high in coordinated waves. Because the wing backs push so high, they create wide overloads that force the opponent to sit deep.
