The midfield features five players working in a crowded central zone. Lacko and Pešek act as a double pivot to shield the defense and intercept passes. Farka, Křivánek, and Křehlík operate further up the pitch to connect the defense to the attack. This group must work hard to track back and cover for each other when the opposition moves the ball. They aim to break the line with vertical passes to find the lone striker.

The attacking side consists of a lone striker, Omotoye, who stays high up the pitch. Since there are no wide wingers in this formation, Omotoye must hold up the ball to allow the midfield to push forward. He is tasked with pressing the opposition defenders to disrupt their build up. The attack is built through central combinations, meaning the five midfielders must provide the service to prevent the striker from becoming isolated.

One major advantage of this formation is the numerical superiority in the middle of the pitch. By crowding the center, the team can block passing lanes and force the opponent to play wide. Another strength is the compactness when defending, which makes it hard for teams to play through the middle. This allows the team to sit deep and wait for the opponent to commit too many men forward before launching a counter.
