They act as the engine room, shielding the back three and attempting to win the ball back immediately after a turnover.

Vinicius Jr plays on the left as an inverted winger who looks to cut inside and drive toward the goal with his dribbling style. Raphinha occupies the right wing to provide service and cross the ball into the box. V. Roque leads the line as a lone striker, tasked to hold up the ball and make runs into the channels. This trio is designed to press high, forcing defenders into mistakes and creating quick chances.

Brazil gains a tactical advantage through the wide overloads created by Fabinho and C. Augusto pushing high. When these wing backs overlap, they create two on one situations against opposing full backs. Another strength is the ability to press high in coordinated waves, using the front three and the midfield duo to trap opponents in their own half. The presence of Casemiro and Marquinhos provides a very strong base that allows the rest of the team to commit bodies forward during attacks.
