Grasshoppers plays a 4-2-4 formation that focuses on high intensity and direct play. This lineup aims to overwhelm opponents through a heavy offensive presence and a high press. The goal is to win the ball high up the pitch and quickly transition into dangerous attacking movements to catch the opposition off guard.

In goal, NICOLAS provides the foundation for the defense. The back line consists of a flat back four with ALLAN and PANTALEO acting as the wide defenders. ALLAN pushes up to provide width while PANTALEO overlaps to support the left side. Central defenders ABDOULAYE and DORIAN stay relatively compact to cover the space behind the advancing full backs. They must stay alert to intercept long balls and track back quickly if the team loses possession in the final third.

The midfield operates as a double pivot consisting of SVEN and LEART. These two players hold the center of the pitch to shield the defense and prevent central breakthroughs. SVEN works to break the line with vertical passes while LEART focuses on ball retention and connecting the back four to the attackers. Their primary job is to control the tempo and ensure the team does not get overrun in the middle of the park when the forwards press high.

The attacking unit is very aggressive, utilizing two wide wingers and two central forwards. SIMONE and ÓSCAR play as wide wingers, looking to cut inside or provide crosses into the box. In the center, YOUNG-JUN and EMMANUEL act as the two strikers to lead the line. They press the opposition defenders constantly to force mistakes. This front four is designed to occupy all parts of the final third, creating movement that pulls defenders out of position.

One major advantage for Grasshoppers is the ability to create wide overloads when the full backs join the attack. The heavy presence of four forwards also makes it difficult for opponents to maintain a compact defensive block. By pushing the lines high, the team can use the speed of transition to catch teams before they can settle into a low block.
