Starting Lineup

Coquimbo operates with a 4-2-4 formation that focuses on high intensity and direct verticality. This lineup is built to attack with numbers and push the opposition back deep into their own half. The goal for Coquimbo is to overwhelm the opponent through heavy pressure and fast attacks.

SANCHEZ guards the goal as the last line of defense. The back four stays relatively compact to protect the center. FERNANDEZ and GAZZOLO act as the central defenders, where they must mark attackers and win headers. CORNEJO and SALINAS occupy the flanks as full backs, tasked to defend the wide areas and occasionally push up to support the attack. The defensive unit must remain disciplined to prevent being caught during transitions.

The midfield consists of a double pivot featuring CAMARGO and GALANI. These two players hold the central area and shield the back four from direct runs. CAMARGO and GALANI work to intercept passes and break the lines to find the attackers. They are the main connection points that help the ball move from the defenders to the front four.

The attacking line is extremely aggressive with four players positioned high up the pitch. VADALÁ and PRATTO operate as two central strikers to occupy the opposing center backs. CHANDÍA and ZAVALA play as wide wingers on the left and right to provide width. These attackers are expected to press high and force mistakes, creating chances through crosses and quick movements into the box.

This formation offers specific tactical advantages. The team can create wide overloads when the full backs join the wingers, making it hard for defenders to mark everyone. Having two strikers like VADALÁ and PRATTO creates constant pressure in the box, often isolating defenders. The heavy presence in the final third allows for a rapid speed of transition when the ball is won in the middle third.
