Louisville Soccer Formation
Starting Lineup
BEN (LUNDT) · JAZIEL (OROZCO) · FALLOU (FALL) · KYLE (HIEBERT) · TYSON (PEARCE) · CHRIS (DURKIN) · DANTE (POLVARA) · CONRAD (WALLEM) · CÉLIO (POMPEU) · SANG-BIN (JEONG) · SIMON (BECHER)Louisville operates with a 3-4-3 formation. This lineup is built to play a high press and hunt for the ball in the opponent half. The team looks to win possession quickly and use heavy verticality to catch the opposition off guard.
SIMON acts as the last line of defense behind a back three. SANG-BIN, CONRAD, and CÉLIO form a compact defensive unit that can step up to intercept passes. The central defenders must be ready to cover wide areas if the midfielders push too far forward. This back line keeps the distance between the defenders and the midfield short to prevent gaps.
The midfield works in a central block where DANTE and CHRIS act as a double pivot. They sit deep to shield the defense and break up play. Further up, JAZIEL and TYSON act as two attacking midfielders who connect the defense to the front three. JAZIEL and TYSON push into the half spaces to drive the ball forward and create chances for the attackers.
Louisville uses three attackers to stretch the opposition. BEN plays as a lone striker to hold up the ball and wait for support. FALLOU and KYLE occupy the wide positions as wingers, ready to cut inside or cross the ball into the box. These three forwards press high to force mistakes from the opposing defenders.
One tactical advantage is the ability to create wide overloads when JAZIEL and TYSON push high. The team can also achieve compactness when defending by dropping into a low block. This formation allows the players to press high in coordinated waves to win the ball back near the opponent's goal.
This 3-4-3 formation is built for aggressive, high pressing football. It is best suited for games where Louisville needs to dominate possession and pin the opponent back in their own half.
