BRUNO and KEVIN stay central to cover space and hold the line. EMMANUEL and JOSÉ are expected to push up to overlap the attackers, while BRUNO and KEVIN focus on being dominant in the air and intercepting long balls. The defensive unit stays compact to prevent passes through the middle.

The midfield operates with a three man unit that connects the defense to the front three. ALDO and CARLOS work in the central areas to shield the defense and break the line with their passing. EZEQUIEL plays as the attacking ten to drive forward and create chances. While ALDO and CARLOS cover the ground to intercept play, EZEQUIEL looks to find pockets of space between the lines to link the midfield to the attack.

In the final third, Santos Laguna employs three attackers. LUCAS acts as the lone striker to hold up the ball and occupy the central defenders. CRISTIAN and KEVIN play as wide wingers to stretch the play and cut inside into goal scoring positions. This front line is designed to press the opposition back line immediately upon losing possession. The movement of CRISTIAN and KEVIN creates space for LUCAS to run into channels.

This formation offers several tactical advantages. The team can create wide overloads when JOSÉ or EMMANUEL overlap the wingers. By using EZEQUIEL in the hole, the club can achieve numerical superiority in the attacking third. The high line allows for a coordinated press in waves to win the ball back in dangerous areas.
