Starting Lineup
FACUNDO (CAMBESES) · GASTÓN (MARTIRENA) · MARCO (DI CÉSARE) · NAZARENO (COLOMBO) · GABRIEL (ROJAS) · SANTIAGO (SOSA) · BRUNO (ZUCULINI) · VALENTÍN (CARBONI) · SANTIAGO (SOLARI) · TOMÁS (CONECHNY) · ADRIÁN (MARTÍNEZ)Racing Club plays with a 4-3-3 formation that focuses on a high press and verticality. This lineup is built to win the ball back quickly in the opponent half and push forward with speed. The goal for Racing Club is to dominate much of the match through aggressive ball recovery and quick transitions to the attacking third.
FACUNDO starts between the posts to command the box. The back line functions as a flat back four where GASTÓN and GABRIEL act as full backs to provide width. GASTÓN can push up the flank to overlap while GABRIEL maintains position to cover the wide areas. In the center, MARCO and NAZARENO form the defensive pairing, with MARCO providing strength in the air and NAZARENO looking to cover space when the line steps up. The unit works to stay compact and keep the distance between the defense and midfield short.
The midfield uses a combination of three players to control the center of the pitch. SANTIAGO and BRUNO sit deeper to shield the back four and intercept passes, while VALENTÍN operates in the space ahead of them as an attacking ten. This midfield trio connects the defense to the attack by breaking lines with vertical passes. SANTIAGO and BRUNO work to maintain possession and switch play, allowing VALENTÍN to find pockets of space to create chances for the forwards.
The attack uses three dedicated forwards to stretch the opposition. ADRIÁN leads the line as a lone striker to hold up the ball and occupy the central defenders. On the wings, TOMÁS and SANTIAGO act as wide attackers who look to cut inside or run into the channels. The wingers press high to force mistakes from the opposing full backs, while their movement creates space in the middle for VALENTÍN to make late runs into the box.
This formation offers several tactical advantages, such as the ability to press high in coordinated waves to suffocate the opponent. The presence of GABRIEL and GASTÓN allows for wide overloads when they overlap the wingers, creating numerical superiority in the final third. Racing Club can also use the speed of transition to catch teams out of position once the ball is won in the middle third.
The 4-3-3 is a heavy pressing formation designed to dominate possession and attack with intensity. It is best suited for matches against opponents who try to build play from the back under pressure.
