Banfield Football Formation
Starting Lineup
FACUNDO (SANGUINETTI) · JUAN LUIS (ALFARO) · DANILO (ARBOLEDA) · NICOLÁS (MERIANO) · IGNACIO (ABRAHAM) · LAUTARO (RÍOS) · IGNACIO (PAIS) · FAVIO (ÁLVAREZ) · THOMAS (RODRÍGUEZ) · NEYDER (MORENO) · MAURO (MÉNDEZ)Banfield plays with a 4-3-3 formation. This lineup is built to play a high press and use verticality to catch teams out of position. The goal is to win the ball high up the pitch and drive forward quickly through the central channels to create chances.
FACUNDO starts between the posts to organize the defense. The back line works as a flat back four with NICOLÁS and DANILO operating as central defenders. NICOLÁS and DANILO must step up to intercept passes and win aerial duels while covering space behind the midfield. On the flanks, IGNACIO acts as an overlapping full back to provide width, while JUAN LUIS pushes forward to support the attack. The defensive unit works together to maintain a high line and squeeze the opposition.
The midfield operates with a combination of three players to control the center. FAVIO plays as the attacking ten to connect the lines and find pockets of space between the opposition defense and midfield. LAUTARO and IGNACIO operate in the central roles to shield the back four and drive the ball forward. These players must pass accurately to break the line and move the ball from the defensive third into the final third.
Banfield utilizes three attackers to stretch the opposition defense. NEYDER and THOMAS act as wide wingers, looking to cut inside and create goal scoring opportunities. MAURO leads the line as a lone striker to hold up the ball and bring others into play. The wingers press high to force turnovers, while MAURO makes runs into the channels to pull defenders out of position.
This formation offers several tactical advantages. The team can create wide overloads when IGNACIO and JUAN LUIS push high to join the wingers. Another strength is the ability to press high in coordinated waves using the front three and FAVIO. This creates constant pressure and makes it hard for the opponent to build play from the back.
The 4-3-3 formation provides Banfield with a direct and pressing identity. This lineup is best suited for games against teams that struggle to play out from a low block.
