The midfield consists of a central duo supported by two wide players. Mullery and Haynes sit in the middle to guard the space in front of the defense. Mullery likes to drive forward and break the line with his passing, while Haynes focuses on his job to shield the back four and track back when out of possession. On the wings, Malbronque and Dempsey provide the width. Malbronque looks to stay wide and cross, while Dempsey has the freedom to cut inside and link the play to the strikers.

In the attacking phase, Fulham uses two forwards. Mitrovic plays as a target man, utilizing his aerial strength and ability to hold up the ball to create opportunities. Davies operates as a second striker, making runs into the box to support the main striker. The attack is built by switching play to the wings or hitting the channels. Both Mitrovic and Davies press the opposition high up the pitch to win the ball back quickly.

The team gains tactical advantages through central compactness. The two banks of four make it difficult for opponents to pass through the middle. They also create wide overloads when Brevett and Cohen push up to support Malbronque and Dempsey. Furthermore, the combination of Mitrovic and the wide players makes the team very dangerous when they cross the ball into the box.

This formation provides a solid way to balance defensive stability with direct attacking intent. It is a lineup best suited for facing teams that push high and leave space behind their midfield.
