Nacional Football Formation
Starting Lineup
LUÍS (MEJÍA) · JUAN (PINTADO) · AGUSTÍN (ROGEL) · SEBASTIÁN (COATES) · CAMILO (CÁNDIDO) · LUCIANO (BOGGIO) · AGUSTÍN (DOS SANTOS) · JUAN CRUZ (DE LOS SANTOS) · TOMÁS (VERÓN LUPI) · MAXI (SILVERA) · MAXI (GÓMEZ)Nacional plays with a 4-2-4 formation. This lineup is built to play a high press and aggressive vertical football. The intention is to push the opposition back into their own half by using a heavy front line to force turnovers high up the pitch.
LUÍS operates between the posts to organize the defensive unit. The back four consists of JUAN at right back and CAMILO at left back, while AGUSTÍN and SEBASTIÁN hold the center. JUAN and CAMILO act as full backs to provide width and track back when the ball is lost. AGUSTÍN and SEBASTIÁN act as the central pair, with one player often stepping up to intercept while the other covers the space behind. This defensive unit works to keep the team compact when they drop into a mid block.
The midfield functions as a double pivot to connect the defense to the attack. LUCIANO and AGUSTÍN occupy the central roles, acting as the engine room. Their main jobs are to shield the back four and win second balls. LUCIANO and AGUSTÍN must work hard to cover the ground between the lines, passing the ball forward to break the line of the opposition midfield. They provide the necessary support to ensure the team is not caught out during transitions.
The attacking unit is very aggressive with three forwards and two central strikers. MAXI and the other MAXI operate as two central forwards to occupy the opposition center backs. They aim to hold up the ball and provide a target for crosses. On the flanks, TOMÁS and JUAN CRUZ act as wide wingers to stretch the defense. TOMÁS and JUAN CRUZ look to cut inside or cross into the box, creating constant movement in the final third to confuse the defenders.
Nacional finds tactical advantages through this heavy offensive presence. The use of two central strikers creates a constant threat in the air and on the ground, often overwhelming single central defenders. By using TOMÁS and JUAN CRUZ to hold the width, the team can create wide overloads when the full backs overlap. This setup allows the team to press high in coordinated waves, making it difficult for opponents to build play from the back.
This 4-2-4 formation is designed for a high pressing, offensive identity. It is best suited for matches where the team wants to dominate territory and force errors through direct attacking play.
