Celta Football Formation
Starting Lineup
GUSTAVO (ALMADA) · MAURICIO (CABRAL) · DIEGO (GIMÉNEZ) · EDUARDO (ÁLVAREZ) · SAÚL (SEVERICHE) · JUAN (MERCADO) · DANNY (BEJARANO) · MATÍAS (ABISAB) · AULI (OLIVEROS) · GUILMAR (CENTELLA) · BAYRON (GARCÉS)Celta plays a 4-3-3 that focuses on high pressing and quick transitions. This formation is built to play vertical football by using the width of the pitch to stretch the opposition. The goal for Celta is to win the ball high up the pitch and immediately look to break the lines with direct passes.
Gustavo stays between the posts to organize the back four. The defensive unit uses a flat back four where Eduardo acts as a ball playing defender on the left. Diego covers the right side and provides aerial strength in the box. Saúl pushes forward as an overlapping full back to provide width on the left, while Mauricio tracks back to support the right flank. The defenders must step up together to maintain a high line and keep the distance between the units small.
The midfield functions with a central core of three players. Juan occupies the left central role to shield the defense and intercept passes. Danny works in the right central space to drive forward and connect the defense to the attack. Matías operates as the attacking ten, finding pockets of space between the lines to create chances. This trio works to control the middle of the pitch by shifting side to side and cutting off passing lanes.
A three player attack uses wide wingers to create much of the goal threat. Auli stays wide on the left to cut inside and threaten the goal, while Guilmar uses his pace on the right wing. Bayron works as a lone striker to hold up the ball and bring others into play. The forwards press in coordinated waves to force mistakes from the opposition defenders. This movement creates space in the channels for the midfielders to run into.
This formation offers clear tactical advantages through wide overloads when Saúl and Auli push up the left side. Celta can also exploit speed of transition by moving the ball quickly from the midfield to the wingers. The ability to press high allows the team to win the ball in dangerous areas. Numerical superiority in the final third is a frequent goal of this lineup.
This 4-3-3 identity relies on intense pressing and rapid vertical movement. It is best suited for games against teams that play a high line or struggle to play out from the back.
